The Healthy Parks Program is designed for the the engagement of the government sector to increase awareness and utilisation of products containing recycled organics while addressing waste minimisation practices.

The program was originally piloted in the Northern Sydney Waste Board region in NSW in 1998/99 and following it’s success was then conducted on a cross regional basis throughout the Greater Sydney Region.

The program attracted a significant increase in the amount of recycled organic content in product purchases at 4,167 cubic metres or a 333% increase in one year.

Subsequently the program has been conducted in 2005 with the Northern Regional Waste Management Group in Melbourne, Victoria where an additional 4000 metres on compost sales were generated in the program timeframe. Most of these sales are on-going.
