IFOAM 2005

IFOAM 2005 was held in Adelaide, Australia from September 20 – 23 for the 15th International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) Organic World Congress with the theme of Shaping Sustainable Systems.

CORE and Compost Australia collaborated to be bronze sponsors for the event.

CORE also held a leads generation program at our stand to identify growers that would consider purchasing member's compost. A database has been devleoped with these leads by state. CORE also operated a "win a load of compost" competition.

The Conference was heralded as a resounding success across the organics industry.

One major outcome of the gathering of the World’s organic community was the Congress Declaration, calling on governments worldwide to increase investment in organic agriculture.

The Congress Declaration calls upon governments worldwide to actively endorse and practically support organic agriculture. It also calls on individual governments to allocate budgetary funds for investment into organic agriculture, proportionate to the organic sector’s production in their countries, and to internalize social and environmental costs in the prices of agricultural products and remunerate organic farmers for ecosystem services they provide.

The IFOAM conference enhanced the industry's understanding of the emerging agricultural market and has also gained significant profile for our industry as a result of our booth and our strong presence during the event. The event also strengthened our relationship with various levels of Government and raised the profile of the organic industry in meetings such as with the Federal Minister, The Honourable Mr. Peter McGouran MP, the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
